On Sunday December 16 we hosted a very festive edition of ‘Green House Sundays’ for our 2018 Christmas Party. Christmas is a time for giving and with your help through an online silent auction and generous donations from the local community, we were able to proudly support our chosen charity The Smith Family’s Christmas Appeal, and kick start the giving with a contribution of $4075.74.
Christmas should be a special time for children, but for over 1.1m young Australians living in poverty, it’s just another time they go without. While at Christmas time a child living in poverty may feel the effects of missing out on presents, the rest of the year the effects of poverty reach well beyond their home lives. Without access to early learning experiences and resources, children living in poverty may not have the opportunity to develop basic skills in reading or numeracy.
As Australia’s largest national education-oriented charity, The Smith Family support disadvantaged Australian children to participate fully in their education, giving them the best chance at breaking the cycle of disadvantage and build aspirations for a better future for themselves.
In support of this incredible cause, we had a Stone and Wood Karma Keg and collected donations and gifts at our ‘Green House Sundays’ Christmas Party. In the lead up to this event we hosted an online silent auction where we had some awesome prizes up for grabs from our generous corporate sponsors such as, Newstead Brewing Co, GH Mumm, Balter Brewing Company, Young Henrys and more.
The team at the Osbourne Hotel would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that helped us raise funds to support The Smith Family. With your help, we were able to raise an incredible $4075.74 for this great cause that surely made many little happy faces this Christmas!
