The Osbourne Hotel opened in 1864 and was the second hotel built in Fortitude Valley. Construction began in 1863 to a design by architect James Furnival, and the building was substantially renovated in the 1920s by G.H.M. Addison and Son. It has been on the Brisbane City Council heritage register as a Local Heritage Place since 1 January 2011.

The Osbourne Hotel has traded under several names. It was known as The Dead Rat Hotel, then the Rat & Parrot, then Fringe Bar and Kerbside. The original Osbourne name was restored in October 2017. The Brisbane City Council heritage register still lists the building under its Fringe Bar alias.

Yes. The Osbourne Hotel menu marks gluten friendly, gluten option, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Note we mark items gluten friendly rather than gluten free, because we prepare them in a shared kitchen. Tell our team about any allergy when you book or order and we will talk you through what works.

The Osbourne Hotel pours 31 different beers across 94 taps – the deepest tap list in Fortitude Valley. We were named QLD’s Best Draught Beer Venue at the QHA Awards for Excellence in both 2022 and 2023. The list runs from mainstream lagers through IPAs, sours and ciders to non-alcoholic and gluten-free options.

Yes. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm at the Osbourne Hotel, with discounted schooners and small house wines. We have discounted pints and jugs for our Beer of the Month. On Fridays, Knock-Offs adds cheap margaritas and espresso martinis.

The Osbourne Hotel runs a different offer every night. Monday is 2-for-1 Classics, Tuesday is $17 Burgers with Survey Says Trivia, Wednesday is the $17 Parmi, and Thursday is Tins Out with $19 Rump. Friday brings Knock-Offs and Fry-Day Footy, Saturday is Super Saturday, and Sunday is $17 Pizzas in the Backyard.

The Osbourne Hotel serves modern Australian pub food across shared plates, burgers, grill, classics, seafood, pizza and fresh bowls. The grill runs from a 250g rump to a 300g striploin and a 200g eye fillet, alongside chicken schnitzel, fish and chips, gnocchi carbonara and wood-style pizzas. A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays.

The kitchen opens at 11am and closes at 9pm every day.

Yes. The Osbourne Hotel has nine bookable function spaces holding 30 to 250 guests, from the Lounge Room for 18 seated up to Inside Exclusive for 250 standing. No, the Osbourne Hotel does not have a rooftop. Our outdoor space is the Backyard – a ground-level courtyard with its own bar, timber tables, graffitied walls and a large stadium screen, holding 120 standing or 50 seated. The Glasshouse is a separate garden space under a glass roof, holding 35.

No. The Osbourne Hotel is not a gaming venue – there are no poker machines and no TAB. We are a pub, sports bar, function venue and late-night entertainment venue, with nine function spaces where a gaming room would sit at most Valley competitors.

Function packages at the Osbourne Hotel start with standing canapes at $24 per person and a two-course shared feast at $69 per person. Beverage packages start at $48 per person for two hours. On the ground floor: Inside Exclusive (250 cocktail), Backyard (120 cocktail, 50 seated), Front Room (70 cocktail), Glasshouse (35 cocktail) and Lounge Room (30 cocktail, 18 seated). Upstairs: Upstairs Exclusive (150 cocktail, 54 seated), Valley Room (60 cocktail, 36 seated), Pocket Room and Constance Corner (30 cocktail, 18 seated each).

To get to the Osbourne Hotel, you can take the train to Fortitude Valley Station, which is a short walk away, or catch several local Brisbane bus lines that stop right near the venue.

There is no on-site parking at the Osbourne Hotel. We recommend McWhirters Secure Parking on Warner Street, a short walk from the venue. There are also multiple metered parking spaces on Constance Street. On busy nights, rideshare drop-off on Constance Street is the easiest way in.

The Osbourne Hotel is at 766 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006, on the corner of Ann and Constance Streets. We sit deliberately off the Brunswick Street strip, minutes from New Farm and the Brisbane CBD, which means easier arrival and drop-off without the main-strip foot traffic.

No, unfortunately our venue is deemed indoors, so we do not allow pets.

Yes, children are welcome in the venue until 9pm each night and must be accompanied by an adult.

Yes, bring photo ID. The Osbourne Hotel operates mandatory networked ID scanning from 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights, so you will need a current driver licence, passport or proof of age card to come in after that. There is no lockout in Fortitude Valley, so you can arrive at any time we are open.

The ground floor of the Osbourne Hotel is wheelchair accessible, including the Front Room, Lounge Room, Glasshouse, Inside Exclusive and the Backyard. Yes. The Osbourne Hotel shows every major NRL, AFL, football, UFC and cricket fixture. We have eight HD TVs – four inside and four in the Backyard – plus a large stadium screen outside. Big games including State of Origin and the NRL and AFL grand finals get booked out, so reserve a table through our Live Sports page.

The Osbourne Hotel is Fortitude Valley’s home of live sport, with a large stadium screen in the Backyard and eight HD TVs across the venue. We show every NRL fixture including State of Origin, Magic Round and the grand final, alongside AFL, football, UFC and cricket. Book a table for big games.
