Yes. The Osbourne Hotel was named Australia’s Best Entertainment Venue and Best Late Night Venue at the 2024 AHA National Awards for Excellence. At state level we won QLD’s Best Late-Night Entertainment Venue at the 2024 QHA Awards for Excellence, and QLD’s Best Draught Beer Venue in both 2022 and 2023.

How old is the Osbourne Hotel?

The Osbourne Hotel opened in 1864 and was the second hotel built in Fortitude Valley. Construction began in 1863 to a design by architect James Furnival, and the building was substantially renovated in the 1920s by G.H.M. Addison and Son. It has been on the Brisbane City Council heritage register as a Local Heritage Place since 1 January 2011.

What was the Osbourne Hotel called before?

The Osbourne Hotel has traded under several names. It was known as The Dead Rat Hotel, then the Rat & Parrot, then Fringe Bar and Kerbside. The original Osbourne name was restored in October 2017. The Brisbane City Council heritage register still lists the building under its Fringe Bar alias.

Yes. The Osbourne Hotel has nine bookable function spaces holding 30 to 250 guests, from the Lounge Room for 18 seated up to Inside Exclusive for 250 standing. Does the Osbourne Hotel have a rooftop?

No, the Osbourne Hotel does not have a rooftop. Our outdoor space is the Backyard – a ground-level courtyard with its own bar, timber tables, graffitied walls and a large stadium screen, holding 120 standing or 50 seated. The Glasshouse is a separate garden space under a glass roof, holding 35.

Does the Osbourne Hotel have pokies, gaming or a TAB?

No. The Osbourne Hotel is not a gaming venue – there are no poker machines and no TAB. We are a pub, sports bar, function venue and late-night entertainment venue, with nine function spaces where a gaming room would sit at most Valley competitors.

There is no on-site parking at the Osbourne Hotel. We recommend McWhirters Secure Parking on Warner Street, a short walk from the venue. There are also multiple metered parking spaces on Constance Street. On busy nights, rideshare drop-off on Constance Street is the easiest way in.

No, unfortunately our venue is deemed indoors, so we do not allow pets.

Yes, children are welcome in the venue until 9pm each night and must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I need ID to get into the Osbourne Hotel?

Yes, bring photo ID. The Osbourne Hotel operates mandatory networked ID scanning from 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights, so you will need a current driver licence, passport or proof of age card to come in after that. There is no lockout in Fortitude Valley, so you can arrive at any time we are open.

Can I watch the footy at the Osbourne Hotel?

Yes. The Osbourne Hotel shows every major NRL, AFL, football, UFC and cricket fixture. We have eight HD TVs – four inside and four in the Backyard – plus a large stadium screen outside. Big games including State of Origin and the NRL and AFL grand finals get booked out, so reserve a table through our Live Sports page.

Where is the best place in Fortitude Valley to watch NRL?

The Osbourne Hotel is Fortitude Valley’s home of live sport, with a large stadium screen in the Backyard and eight HD TVs across the venue. We show every NRL fixture including State of Origin, Magic Round and the grand final, alongside AFL, football, UFC and cricket. Book a table for big games.
